Seeing is Believing!
Seeing is believing.
Up until about 2 years ago, I fully believed (pardon the pun) this statement.
It was like part of my DNA, being that I’m originally from the Show-Me State (Shout-out, Missouri!)
Old school: don’t believe anything until you have mounds of evidence to support it.
Nothing wrong with this, but there’s an easier way: believe first then find the evidence.
This way is more freeing and more fun IMHO. Kinda like a scavenger hunt of sorts, with the goal being to prove your belief true.
Can you feel the difference between the two? The old way has some inherent limitations and seems like an uphill battle because your brain will always move the belief bar. With each new bit of evidence, your brain will still not want to fully believe until it finds just one more, or a bigger/more important piece of evidence, or the right kind of evidence.
The better way is to start from your belief. Then, each piece of evidence you find is like a “See, I told you so!” Another little gem. Another little tally to chalk up in support of this belief you already have.
This is the easy way! And I’m sure your brain (like mine) ultimately wants the easy way.
But first: what is it you want to believe? It is something about your business or medical practice? Is it something about you as a person? Or maybe an important relationship?
Pro tip: make it good. No one wants to believe crappy thoughts about themselves, their job, or their relationships. It would be all to easy for your human brain to find lots of evidence to prove this not-so-lovely belief true. Believe in something that would be a joy to find evidence for and to support!
So, believe away and don’t delay! Because then you can go out and seek the evidence that’s waiting to be uncovered in support of you and your belief.
